Looking for an easy chocolate treat? Look no further. This hot fudge cake is easy to make, it’s so chocolaty, fudgy and so delicious. Serve this with a scoop of ice cream for an ultimate chocolate treat.

Ingredients

Cake

  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2.5 tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder
  • pinch of salt
  • 2 tbsp. unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract

Sauce

  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder 
  • 1 cup water, boiled

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F. Lightly grease 8×8 baking dish. (pre boil water while making the cake)

Making the cake portion:

  1. To a medium bowl add flour, baking powder, 1/2 c. sugar, cocoa and a pinch of salt. Whisk until combined.
  2. Add the milk, melted butter and vanilla extract. Stir until combined.
  3. Spread the mixture into greased baking dish.

Making the sauce

  1. In the same bowl, whisk granulated sugar, brown sugar and cocoa powder. Sprinkle over the cake batter.
  2. Carefully pour hot water over the whole cake. Do not stir! Leave the cake untouched with the water on top.
  3. Bake for about 30 minutes. Or until the cake is almost set.
  4. Cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.
