Peanut butter blossoms are a must during holiday baking! Everyone will love these cookies. They are soft, peanut buttery with a piece of chocolate in the center. It’s a simple recipe that makes a cookie no one can resist.
What are peanut butter blossoms
If you haven’t heard of peanut butter blossoms, I’m here to tell you that they are definitely worth a try! Here’s why:
- The cookie is soft and peanut buttery.
- The cookie dough is rolled in sugar. Which gives you that beautiful crackly sugary crust and a delicious crunch.
- Once the cookies are baked a chocolate kiss is placed in the center of the cookie.
- These peanut butter cookies are very simple and quick to make.
- Peanut butter and chocolate is always a good idea.
How to make the peanut butter blossom cookies
Beat butter, sugars and peanut butter until fluffy.
Add the egg and vanilla extract and beat until combined.
Then add the flour/baking soda and beat until just combined. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and chill for at least 30 minutes.
Roll the peanut butter cookie dough into balls, about 1 tbsp. for each cookie dough. Roll the cookie dough ball in sugar and place on prepared baking sheet.
Bake for 8-11 minutes or until tops begin to slightly crack. Take out of the oven and let them cool for 3-5 minutes.
Lightly press chocolate kiss in the center of each cookie. Then transfer cookies to a cooling rack to continue cooling.
Variations – Instead of a chocolate kiss you can top the cookies with a chocolate of your choice!
Do I need to chill the dough?
I would recommend chilling the dough for at least 30 minutes. It’s easier to work with when the dough has been chilled. Chilling the dough will also help the cookies keep their shape and not spread when baking.
