Ingredients needed
What I love about this recipe, is that you don’t need lots of ingredients to make an impressive dessert. You only need four!
- Heavy whipping cream
- Chocolate
- Unsalted butter
- Oreos
Making the chocolate tarts
- Make the crust: Combine crushed Oreos and butter in a bowl. Press into four, 4 inch tart pans. Refrigerate 15-20 minutes or until firm.
- Make the filling: In a sauce pan add heavy whipping cream. Once it’s almost boiling add the chocolate and stir until melted and smooth. Take off heat and add the butter. Stir until melted and smooth.
- Fill the tarts. Carefully divide the filling between the tarts. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until firm.
What kind of chocolate should I use?
For these tarts I used two types of chocolate. Bitter sweet and semi sweet. The two chocolates gave the tart a dark and rich flavor without being too bitter. But any chocolate of your choice will work for this recipe. Whether its one or a combo of chocolates.
What do I serve these mini chocolate tarts with?
These chocolate tarts are very chocolaty. When I was making these tarts Valentines Day was close. So I chose to serve and top these with strawberries. You can top these with whipping cream, sea salt or any topping of your choice!
Before serving, I’d recommend that you let the tarts sit at room temperature for at least 5 minutes. This allows the chocolate filling to soften and get that smooth, creamy texture. If you eat them right away they won’t be as creamy. But they will still be so good!
